Internet Picks: Week of November 13

Wow! There were so many interesting, interactive sites, that I couldn't decide which subject area to focus on. I recommend trying out all these sites this week! I learned more than I thought as I worked through these sites.

As promised, here is the Hubble website Dr. Perry recommended to us on black holes.

Interested in boosting your reading comprehension, vocabulary, or general reading strategies? Try out The Reading Comprehension Connection. Pick a skill and reading level (intermediate = reading at a 4th to 6th grade level, advanced is for those students reading at a 7th - 9th grade reading level). I would start out easy and work my way into the harder levels unless your teacher tells you otherwise.

Want a selection of games to play? Try out BBC's Wheel of Math Games! Simply choose a game a try it out! Keep in mind, this is a British site, so measurements are likely to be in metric units.

In Shoot the Bullseye! you can practice your parts of speech. Sometimes poor Chubs misses his target, even if you get the answer correct! I would recommend fourth graders work at level three, but you may want to try out level two first if your a little shaky on identifying parts of speech.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, do you ever wonder, "What REALLY happened?" Well now you can! Step back in time and become a Historical Detective in Plimoth Plantation's YOU BE THE HISTORIAN: INVESTIGATE THE FIRST THANKSGIVING!
